Winter Sprint event 1 - Mt Roskill Schools | The
Auckland Orienteering Club’s Winter Sprint Series of Orienteering. It’s an exciting competition about speed, navigation and thinking under pressure! Get out into some of the complex School and University Campuses in Auckland, practise map reading, navigation and quick decision making. Enjoy the exercise, feel the rush, and have some fun. You can set your pace— walk, jog, or SPRINT! We provide you with: - a detailed map of the area and the location of your course controls - A selection of 3 courses of varying length with an expected win time of 10 - 12 minutes - Special electronic timing control markers for you to visit and compare each control leg time (We will hire you a Sport-Ident card for $2 if you do not have one) - A printout of your times and the ability to compare with others. You are welcome to contact us if you have any questions or would like to know more. The Winter Sprint Series are run on Saturday afternoons with start times between 4:00pm—4:30pm. Costs: Non O club members: Senior $6, Student $3, Family $12 (plus SI hire $2) Members: Senior $4, Student $2, Family $8 (plus SI hire $2) |

OY 6 - Woodhill Forest set courses | **PLEASE
NOTE DATE CHANGE** Please note change of date again. Was previously 22nd June, then moved to 8th June. Now we are running the OY on Sunday 3 August. AOC presents OY 6 (was OY5) in Woodhill Forest. All welcome. If you haven't been orienteering in the forest before, come along a give it a go. There will be courses suitable for all levels. Sport Ident electronic timing will be used. You are welcome to contact us if you have any questions or would like to know more. Members - this is your chance to improve your Orienteer of the Year points. Further event details will be announced here closer to the time. To get to Woodhill Forest, take the North-Western motorway (SH16) from the city to the end of the motorway. Turn left to follow SH16 and proceed through the two sets of lights and turn right at the roundabout to follow SH16 towards Kumeu. Continue along SH16 until Restall road (Forest HQ) on your left where Orienteering Signs will direct you to the event location. |

pace—Walk, jog or run. One Hour Street Events: Individuals or Teams. 20 controls are scattered over the map area. You need to plan which controls you will visit and how you will visit them. Aim to return within one hour. Competition levels: Course 1 visit any 18 of the controls; Course 2, any 14; Course 3, any 10; Course 4, any 6 controls; Mass start—Maps handed out after 6:45pm. Wear walking / running gear. Bring a torch or headlamp. Reflective clothing is recommended. Free hot soup on your return. Help is available at the start location—please ask Costs: Non O club members: Senior $5, Student $3, Family $10 Members: Senior $3, Student $2, Family $6 |

Street Night - 3 hr Rogaine (2hr option available) | Three
Hour (or 2 hour option) Street Rogaine Event: Teams
of two or more. Teams must stay together at all times. We can team you
up if you come alone. 30 or more controls are scattered over the map
area. You need to plan which controls you will visit and how you will
visit them. Each control has a set point value. Visit any number of
controls to gain the maximum points within the allowed time.
Points deducted for exceeding allowed time. Walk, Jog or Run. Mass start— Wear walking / running gear. Bring a torch or headlamp. Reflective clothing is recommended. Hot soup and BBQ sausage on your return. Help is available at the start location—please ask More details announced closer to the time.
