The Auckland Orienteering Summer Series 2011-2012
Results » Selfs Farm 8 Mar 11
Although the nights are starting to cool down there were many very warm looking runners who returned at the end of their run around Self's Farm tonight. There were many comments about the lovely area that is a real surprise if you have not been fortunate enough to have visited this private farm before. We are very grateful to Mr Self who so kindly grants us access each year. One competitor there tonight informed us he knew it well as he used to run his school cross country champs there may years ago - he says the hills were steeper then though!! (odd as I am sure they have actually grown steeper over the last few years!).
Thank you Aiden and Sandra for tonight's courses. It was great to see Sandra there putting out controls tonight after suffering a very nasty cut during the Domain event last week. She asked that we pass on her thanks to the many people who offered their assistance to her last week.
My apologies to the early arrivals tonight who had to wait a while for the arrival of the e cards. This was my fault entirely as they got left sitting in our garage and a frantic plea had to go out to a family member to bring them out for us. Not good I am sorry!!
Next week is the last but one for SummerNav 2010-2011. We change to WEDNESDAY night, 16th March on Lloyd Elsmore park, with the event centre on Sir Lloyd Drive, Pakuranga
The final SummerNav, the following week will again be on Wednesday (23rd) at Ellerslie Racecourse. We are running this final event as a FUND RAISER FOR THE EARTHQUAKE APPEAL .
EVERY CENT collected on the 23rd will be donated to the earthquake appeal so lets make it a record turn out - bring along all your friends, relatives, school and work mates so that orienteering can help make a difference for those who have suffered in Christchurch.
Also coming up, on Sunday 20th March is another SUNDAY FOREST EVENT. There will be courses suitable for all so do come along and give it a go. I am sure you will not be disappointed!
