Tonight saw us move to the rather less well known venue on Hamlins Hill. Many people were seen taking in the rather different view down onto the cars crawling along the motorway. It rather takes you by surprise to be running in the middle of the ?countryside? and then suddenly find the motorway just ahead, doesn?t it? Thanks to Dwayne, Hayley and Craig for the courses tonight and also to the many helpers on the night, especially the students from Dilworth who helped with the set up after they arrived.
NEXT Week we change to a THURSDAY evening, 19th November, at Western Springs, starting from the edge of the zoo carpark off Motions Rd. There is extra parking across the road if this carpark becomes full. Western Springs is always a favourite map but is especially delightful at this time of the year when it is bursting with baby birds of all descriptions. A great place to enjoy a picnic after your run.
The following week, again on a Thursday 26th November we head out East to Lloyd Elsmore Park, off Pakuranga Highway
Also don't forget the event being run by the zoo THIS Thursday 12th November to raise money for Orangutan conservation. The event is being organized by Lactic Turkey using the Auckland Orienteering Club orienteering map of the Zoo which has only been used once before. The event will be an orienteering event with a difference and is a wonderful opportunity to orienteer in this unique environment while helping out a good cause. It is a teams event with teams of 2 or 4 designed to be family, friends or workplace teams. Why not get a team of your workmates or friends together and join in the fun, promoting orienteering and helping the orangutans at the same time. You need to pre enter.
