JUNIOR CAMP

Good luck to 16 of our juniors going to the Junior training camp next week.

I'm sure it will be great fun and a great learning experience. Brilliant that so many of our juniors have taken the opportunity to go. Our junior training fund is lending some financial support with travel costs.

Some highlights from 2014

a

  • Orienteering NZ awards to 3 of our members - ONZ Volunteer Awards to  Roger Woodroofe, Peter Swanson.  Presidents Award to Alistair Stewart.
  • NZ JWOC team performance in Bulgaria in July. Head coach Rob Jessop (AOC) had a large part to play in the success including a gold medal to Tim Robertson. Rob is a life member of AOC and now based in Australia
  • Auckland relays - great club day out. And we nearly won - a draw with NW on points but they won on time. Thanks Dwayne and Mervyn for organising
  • Training weekend. We had a great turnout from members across clubs and welcomed yellow course orienteers. More training opportunities already programmed in 2015.
  • More training in Tuesday night evening runs - thanks Jeff for organising and everyone for turning up even on the stormiest darkest nights
  • A great Summer Nav series underway with a new brochure to boot. Thanks to the Summer Nav team for all their work - John and Liz Parsons, Martin Crosby, Steve Oram, Gergo Verhas. This committee have done a great job to get the current series off the ground.
  • Membership growth in the last year 15%
  • 16 of our juniors given a place on the junior training camp starting next week. Thanks Linda and Dwayne for driving the AOC bus and lending your support for the week.
  • 10 AOC club members selected in the NZ team for Tasmania
