The last SummerNav before the New Year went really well. Plenty of exercise for those that wanted exercise - courses 1 & 2 had some really long legs to give runners a great opportunity to do their thing. For those that really wanted an orienteering challenge there was a very nice memory course. And courses 3 and 4 provided fun for lots of people. Thank you very much to Michael and Alina for organising today. With controls far and wide and a memory course too, they had lots to do.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience the missing control caused. We spotted it was missing quite quickly and got a replacement in place as quickly as possible. Right at the end of the evening Marcus was doing the memory course and as he headed for HJ (the missing control) he spotted a control in a rubbish bin so by the time he left HJ there were two controls by the tree. It continues to amaze us what passersby do.
The Auckland Club is organising ‘Auckland Triple Crown’, a series of 3 sprint events to be held on 3, 4 and 6 February on central city maps. One of these is World Ranking Event and it is also the Oceania Sprint championships. Despite being big sounding events, everyone can have a run. If you want to see and be involved in a major event this is your opportunity. Great maps, great courses and great atmosphere. All the faces you are familiar with from SummerNav are the organisers so you won’t feel out of place. You can read all about it at https://akltriplecrown.weebly.com/ and as it is a pre-entry event you’ll find the link to the entry page there. Entries close on the 14th of January. It being the sprint format, whatever course you’ll have to run won’t be too long.
Have a lovely Christmas and our best wishes for the New Year. We start up again on January the 23rd - a Tuesday. We are at St Kentigern College on Pakuranga Highway. For those wanting a longer run some courses will visit a neighbouring school – new to most of us.
